History of the Chaise Lounge

The chaise lounge enjoys a long history spanning many cultures. It has been a symbol of luxury and comfort from the days of Cleopatra to today. And it was a favorite in both French rococo and early 20th century design for its structural beauty and ornament delights.

Depending on the style of the time, a chaise lounge may feature as many as six to eight legs. The influence of the era will also dictate:
- Materials used in construction
- Fabrics
- Dimensions of width
- Density and quantity of cushions
- Height and position of headpieces
